Hello and welcome fishingpimp.com members and guest to this week’s edition of Jr’s Beer View Mirror. This weekend I went with a beer that has some fond memories to my past. This weekend it was Red Dog. :D
Everyone has that beer from when you were a teenager that you drank all the time because it was cheap. For me it was Red Dog which was introduced in 1994 and is brewed by the Miller Brewing Company and is part of their Plank Road Brewery Family in Milwaukee, WI. Apparently even Miller is embarrassed by Red Dog as the Plank Road Brewwey is a alias of Miller which was created to sell Red Dog and Icehouse as Miller wanted the money for it but not to be associated with them. The beer contains 5% Alcohol by volume and 147 calories per 12 oz. For a 6 pack of “tall boys” I spent $4.50, and in the ecomony we live in price matters on everything especially when your trying to catch a buzz. It’s a pale yellow color that looks close enough to pass for a urine sample. The smell is standard cheap lager mix of grain and can. The taste is beer - nothing more, nothing less. Red Dog faded away for awhile and then came back to life in 2005. Two things you can do to make it taste better and you look cooler is to basically freeze the beer, I mean make it the coldest beer you can drink and pour it in a glass. So if you’re trying to catch a cheap buzz and short on cash then give Red Dog a try. And don’t be embarrassed if someone sees you drinking it because your buddy Jr will stand there and shoot the shit with you and drink Red Dog. Until next time, drink one for me. ;)
