Recently on a trip to our company lease in the hill country I was privileged enough to take an axis buck. I am very proud of him not only because of his size, but the manner in which he was taken. I spotted him about 300 yards away moving through the brush. Being on this lease for 14 months I had already gained knowledge of where and when these animals moved during the day. I exited my atv and began to move ahead of the herd to an opening where I knew they would cross. After stalking the herd for 500+ yards I set up on a fence line and waited. The does that he was traveling with made their way through the opening and just as he cleared the brush the does began to alert each other of my presence. They couldn't see me at all, but had moved far enough past the clearing to get my wind. I took the shot at 125 yards and the 7mm Remington Ultra Mag found it's mark right behind his shoulder. After a short 30-40 yard track I found him rolled-up next to a ceder bush. I never scored the animal, but his main beams are 28" and 29" respectively.http://www.fishingpimp.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=26&stc=1&d=1253547263
