Thats right a helo visit. Later in the report Maiden voyage of the World Cat. We had plans on running outta Sargent, but after seeing the conditions we decided on Freeport. Had Rik Jacobson aboard with Mrs Hotrod, Matt, and Obie. We were planning for some of Rik's spots off the East Breaks but after 15 to 20 miles into 4 to the occasional 6 ft seas we decided to turn East. We had props come out of the water at times, but still thank god we were in a cat. It took 75% of the punishment out. No matter what kinda boat you were out in it was ROUGH!
So Rik plotted us a new course off his hotspots. The conditions were choppy with whitecappers in the morning, but further east we found a little calmer waters. Guys, Rik put us on some great fish! Despite the conditions he managed to put my wife on here first Warsaw and her biggest Snapper. Thank you Rik! To top it off she caught it on here new Don Savage pink wrapped rod! Don she absolutely loved it On here first big fish on the video she said this is for you Susie Thanks Mr Savage!
Rik did another fine job of putting us on fish on his quality spots. We boxed a 5 man Limit of Snapper to 16 lbs. A 40lb or so Warsaw and Matt with about a 35lb Ling. Rik also caught 2 nice Gag grouper himself, he did some fishing on this trip while I captained him around for a change. We had many other big break offs, some big Grouper for sure. Thanks again Rik for a fine trip!!! We had fun
And about 50 miles out we had a Coast Guard visit with their Helo circling us, Matt said there checking out Mrs Hotrod's boobies Later found out it was a friend of mine Steven they were looking for, glad your ok Buddy.
Thanks to my crew we had a great time, all of Team Hotrod except for Bubba, he was working out of State. Wish my other 2 fishing partners Chad and Jimmy were there too. Matt thanks for driving the heck outta the Cat on the 50 mile trip in. Enjoy the pics and video!
